Fewer landlords are taking their tenants to the Tenancy Tribunal for not paying their rent.
There have been claims the numbers have dropped not because there were fewer tenants missing their rent, but because landlords were disillusioned with the Tenancy Tribunal.
The number of rent arrears cases appearing at the Tenancy Tribunal dropped by 40 per cent between 2015 and 2016 from 162 to 97 in South Canterbury.
